Alfred D. Beck's Obituary
– Alfred D. Beck passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at North Florida Regional Hospital with his family members by his side. He was born June 15, 1926 in Glendale, New York to Christina (Schmitt) and Daniel Beck. Alfred served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by the New York City Transit Authority for 32 years. Alfred was a past musician and director for the Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corp, Long Island. Alfred and Claire retired to Gainesville, Florida in 1982. He was an avid Gator booster with several children and grandchildren graduating from UF.
Alfred was the beloved husband of Claire (Cupitt) to whom he was married to for 63 years. He was the devoted father of Robert Beck (predeceased), Thomas Beck (Barbara), Barbara Kraslow (Larry), Patricia Collins (Hunter), beloved brother of Vera Kaucher (predeceased) and Marty Beck (predeceased) and loving grandfather to Amanda, Hamilton, David, Lynsi, Michelle and Meagan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street with Fr. Emmanuel Pazhayapurackal as celebrant, on Friday, December 12, 2014, at 9:30 AM, followed by interment in Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue at 11:00 AM., with military honors.
