Albert Conrad Hansen's Obituary
Albert Conrad Hansen was born December 21, 1934 in Tampa, FL. He passed away peacefully on August 5, 2018 surrounded by his family. Al is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn Hansen; his son, David Hansen, daughter-in-law, Trudy Guettler Hansen, and grandsons, Kevin, Casey, Brian, and Sean Hansen of Oviedo, FL; daughter, Kelly Hansen Harris, son-in-law, Eric Harris and grandchildren, Kelsey Harris Solberg, Dylan Solberg and Kyle Harris of Newberry, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hansen Sr. and mother, Annie Hansen and older brothers, Jack W. Hansen and Donald R. Hansen.
Mr. Hansen served active duty in the US Navy 1954-58 at Tokyo, Japan and the construction battalion center at Port Hueneme, CA.
Al attended H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, FL and earned a degree in building construction from the University of Florida in 1962. At UF he was a member of the honorary fraternities Gargoyle and Sigma Lamba Chi.
Al began his career with stints in the construction industry in Virginia and Florida. He returned to Gainesville and in 1971 founded Hansen Construction, Inc., which led a 40-year career of building homes in the Gainesville area. In 1979 he served as president of the Gainesville Builder’s Association. During the 1980’s, Al worked closely with Gator Athletics, including building homes for many coaches and staff, resulting in lifelong friendships.
Al was an avid Florida sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was also a passionate and dedicated Gator fan and supporter. Al especially enjoyed watching his kids compete and play sports and never missed a competition or school event!
Al was a Christian and a faithful member of Jonesville Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Jonesville Baptist Church with Pastor Corey Cheramie officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
