Agnes Sparks' Obituary
A NATIVE FLORIDIAN WHO LEAD A FULL LIFE at the age 97 – Agnes was born on October 20, 1924, in Archer, Fla and passed on August 2, 2022 in Ocala. She was married to Roy Leonard Sparks and they had one son, John Lawrence Sparks who passed in 1972.
Agnes spent her formative years in Archer and worked side by side with her father, Elmer, who was the Postmaster in Archer. Agnes was a respected member of the community in both Archer and Ocala and worked for over 30 years in the banking industry. Agnes started her banking career at the Perkins Bank in Archer and retired from SunTrust Bank in Ocala in 1989.
After marrying Roy Leonard Sparks, she moved to Ocala where she had a son, John, who tragically passed in 1972. She enjoyed working in her yard, playing cards with her friends, traveling, and she also was a devoted Coke Soda fan. There are few people you might meet who had such a positive outlook on life. Agnes was resilient, caring, and lived a simple life. With that said, she lived life to the fullest with her family and friends. Agnes never forgot being raised in Archer and divided her time between Archer and Ocala.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Archer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Bethlehem Methodist Episcopal Cemetery Restoration Org.; P.O. Box 914, Archer, Florida 32618 C/O Roberta Lopez.
