Adam Alexander Hackney's Obituary
Adam Alexander Hackney, age 45, of Temple Terrace, FL, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. He was born March 8, 1980, in Denver, Colorado. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps after high school graduation.
Most of Adam’s adult life, he dealt with health issues. He was diagnosed with Moyamoya at the age of 21. Moyamoya is a brain disorder that is associated with periodic blackouts, TIA’s, tremors and strokes. In 2001, Adam received a medical discharge from the Marines due to the Moyamoya diagnosis. He suffered a massive hemorrhage stroke in December of 2019 and spent the rest of his life in the home and care of his mother, Joyce Crawford. Adam was thankful for the loving and constant care she provided for him. He never complained, was always pleasant and enjoyed life, regardless of his circumstances. His concern was for others, not himself.
The family is especially grateful for the 5½ additional years they were granted with Adam after his near-fatal stroke. He will be deeply missed. If there was one word that best described Adam, it would be thankful—thankful for his mom and family who loved him, a God who loved and forgave him, and a church family that embraced him with open, loving arms. He truly valued the things that many take for granted.
He is survived by his loving mother, Joyce (Steve) Crawford; father, Mark Hackney (Beth); sisters, Sierra Schmidt (Aaron) and Chanelle Parker (Ethan); stepsister, Jocelyn Slone (Scott); stepbrothers, Stephen Crawford (Wheeler) and Phillip Crawford (Juli); aunts, Janet Locke (Darl), Carol Petty (John), and Shari Long (J.D.); nieces and nephews, Brady, Brice, and Lila Schmidt, as well as Chloe, Kenzie, and Lexie Parker; and many beloved cousins.
A Celebration Honoring Adam’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at University Church of Christ, 14314 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa, FL 33613.
Adam will be buried in the Newnansville Cemetery in Alachua, Fl.
