Reverend William Martin Poyner

December 10, 1974 - July 26, 2021

Reverend William Martin Poyner, 46, of Fort White, Florida, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2021, after a valiant battle with Covid-19. Billy was born December 10, 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Sandalwood High School in 1993, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from The Baptist College of Florida, majoring in Christian Education with minors in Psychology and Youth Ministry. Billy was a lifelong learner, earning a Master of Arts in Religion as well as a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. He would have completed a Master of Education in December 2021. Billy married Michele Slater on May 20, 2000 in Miami, Florida. Blessed with four children of their own, together they built a life they loved. They served the Lord in Student Ministry reaching youth for Christ by working in the local church and opening their home. Billy was a Bible teacher in the middle and high school grades at First Christian Academy in High Springs, Florida. He was recently called to serve as the Student Pastor and Bible teacher at Northside Baptist Church/Christian Academy in Starke, Florida. Billy was an avid sports fan. He coached multiple sports and teams ranging in age from 3-years-old to high school. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. His favorite place to be was on the Saint John’s River. Billy was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Marilyn. He is survived by his sister, Lynn (Richard); his wife, Michele; his four children, Carlin, Finley, Reed, and Cade; numerous family, friends, and students. Billy was a quiet man with ears that listened and a heart that loved. He was faithful in his service to the Lord and has heard the Lord’s words as found in Matthew 25:21: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Celebration of Life (wear shorts & sports t-shirts) Aug 27, 2021 5pm-8pm (there will be a different small & socially distanced service every 20 minutes) Northside Baptist Church 7415 NW County Rd 225, Starke, FL 32091
