October 1, 1953 - September 8, 2021
Willard (Will) Lee Watson, Jr., DMD, resident of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Wednesday September 8, 2021, at the age of 67. Will was born on a U.S. Military Base on October 1, 1953, in Morocco, North Africa, to parents Willard Lee Watson and Helen Matilda Watson. Will earned his undergraduate degree from Florida Technological University (now University of Central Florida). Will went on to earn his DMD from The University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida. Upon completing dental school, Will stayed on at The University of Florida to teach dental students for several more years. Will was still practicing dentistry and serving the needs of patients throughout north central and central Florida at the time of his passing. Will got his sense of adventure while traveling the world with his parents and brother while his father was serving in the United States Navy. Their travels took them to Iceland, Hawaii and Virginia Beach, Virginia until finally settling in Orlando, Florida. Because of these experiences when Will was younger, Will continued to explore his sense of adventure by travelling every chance he could. Will especially enjoyed fishing, scalloping and spending time with friends and colleagues who meant so much to him. Will was an inspiration to many. Will was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life of thirty years, his wife Diane Watson, his brother Mark Watson (Pam), of Orlando, Florida, niece Chelsey Watson and nephew Brandon Watson, both of Dallas, Texas, step-sister Kimberly Jacobs of Orlando, Florida, and sister-in-law Karen Bould of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, with Bro. Jerry Wesol, officiating. In respect of COVID-19 accommodations, guests are asked to please wear a mask and respect social distancing.
