Vivian Dick

May 14, 1930 - July 16, 2021

On July 16, 2021, Vivian Dick at the age of 91, passed away peacefully at her home in the comfort of her own bed with her boys taking care of her. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about a month ago. Having complained of stomach pains she was taken to the doctor for a CT scan, when she was given the bad news, her response was, “Rats, I thought they were gonna say something else, get me some buttermilk and a chocolate donut!” her ability to find the positive things in everyone and everything was her greatest gift to her friends and family. She was well taken care of, and hospice came in and helped her to move on without pain and in comfort. Born on May 14, 1930, Vivian was preceded in death by her first husband Ron Dick, Sr. and her second husband Jerry Rose as well as her parents, Patrick and Dorris Dooley, her brother Ross and his wife Frances. She is survived by her brother Alan Dooley and his wife Carolyn. Vivian was known to open her house and table to many who loved her dearly, but she will be missed most by her children, Ron Dick, Jr. and his wife Dianne, Marcus Dooley and his wife Robin, David Dick and his husband Steve. She loved her grandchildren Blair, Ian, Chloe and Emily, who affectionately called her BeBe. She introduced them and her great grandchildren Shane and Noah, to her love for music and travel and most important, playing games. Vivian had a long and rewarding career as a nurse practitioner, where she worked in public health and Planned Parenthood. Every year she looked forward to reunions at St. Pete High School, and lunches with nurses she’d worked with over the years. Vivian tried to always keep in touch with all of her friends and family and continued to inspire them all with her caring manner. She never met a wedding cake with too much icing or a chocolate dessert she didn’t like. She loved going to the theater and watching plays, but her real passion was being on stage and creating the characters life in each story and even tried her hand at directing some. Vivian was an avid bridge player, she loved trying new recipes and loved to travel and learn. She loved reading and sharing the stories with family and friends. But her favorite hobby was taking a nap. Several times she had told family and friends that when she woke in the morning her first thought was, when can I get a nap in? Vivian Dick was an inspiration to all that she came in touch with, and although she may not be here with us physically, she has inspired in all of us how to live a good full life. We love you Vivian and will miss your presence. Due to mom wanting to be at her own memorial service, and to hear what people had to say about her, she had not one but two such services the last being “The Happy To Be Alive Tour” in 2019. So that being said, mom will be cremated, and her ashes spread in her favorite fishing hole. In accordance with mom’s wishes, please donate to a charity of your choice
