P.A. "Pete" Gunter, age 93 of Lake Butler, Florida passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was born February 1, 1929 in Athens, Georgia to Fred and Maggie B. Satcher Gunter. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Pete was a painter by trade and was an avid dove hunter. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the Ocklawaha River. He is survived by his granddaughter, Heather and her husband Robert who he resided with, the last 7 years of his life. He is also survived by children, Roxie Ann Gunter, Walter Gunter, Donald Thomas, Andrew Thomas and Randall Thomas; sisters, Betty Helen Dattler, Linda Cox, Oneal Self; brothers, Jimmy Phil Gunter and Wayman Douglas Gunter; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Gunter, children, Judy Tucker, Ronald Thomas; brothers, Melvin Gunter, Eugene Gunter and sister Jane Moon. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, February, 8, 2022 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, with Rev. Parrott, Rev. Geneva Rogers and Rev. G. C. Fogarty, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lake City. The family will receive friends Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
