Mildred Sanderson

Mildred Sanderson, a former resident of Turkey Creek, died on Tuesday, October 5. Mildred was born September 19, 1918 on a farm in rural Michigan. Her years growing up were filled with typical farm chores including gathering and cleaning eggs, milking cows, and driving a team of horses while her older brothers loaded loose hay. She attended a one room school through the 8th grade before going to the local high school where she graduated in 1936. Mildred married Lynn Sanderson on November 20, 1937. For 25 years after their marriage Mildred operated an upholstery and drapery business. They had two children, Mel born in 1944 and Myrna born in 1947. After attending night school in 1962, she began working in hospital administration. Mildred and Lynn started spending winter months in Lakeland in 1977, moving there permanently in 1992. Their retirement was filled by trips to Europe and North Africa before making a move to Alachua in 2004 to be close to family. Mildred is survived by her son Melvin (Sandra) Sanderson of Alachua and two grandsons Erik Hoffman and Hans Hoffman and three great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Lynn, her daughter Myrna Sanderson Dupree, and all her siblings. There will be no services.
