Jack Thomas Waters

March 15, 1928 - April 7, 2021

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Jack T. Waters loving father of two children passed away at the age of 93. Jack was born on March 15, 1928 in Reddick Florida to Wallace and Mae Waters. He joined the Marines at an early age followed by reserve duty in the Air Force. Jack subsequently joined the Army serving 20 distinguished years as soldier and officer as well as serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. On April 8, 1958, he married Hannelore Junck. They raised one son, Roger, and one daughter, Cindy. Jack had a passion for fishing and hunting and did so whenever he could, often sharing the experience with his family and relatives. He also loved to play cards with his siblings, family or a friendly poker game with friends at the local VFW. Anyone who played cards with Jack can attest his passion for the card games made him a very formable foe. In addition, Jack was a billiard aficionado, not many rivaled his skill when it came to a friendly game of 8 Ball. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Jack never turned anyone away in need, always providing help, comfort and support when needed. He truly wore his heart on his sleeve. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Wallace, and his mother, Mae, sisters Edith, Mary and Charlotte and brother Billy. He is survived by his two children, Cindy and Roger, his brother Robert, grand children Hunter and Tucker Dinges, Ashley and Kaylee Waters as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at McIntosh Christian Church, 5845 Avenue E, McIntosh, FL with Pastor Paul French, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:30. Interment will follow in McIntosh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of Marion County, 701 NW 14th Road, Ocala, FL 34475.
