J. Warren Graves

July 15, 1935 - May 1, 2022

J. Warren Graves, age 86 passed away on May 1, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida. Warren was born on July 15, 1935, in Miami, Florida to John R. and Catherine Smith Graves. He grew up in Homestead, Florida where he had many fond memories of spending time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Warren worked many years at his parent’s furniture store, and proudly served in the United States Army. Following Hurricane Andrew Warren and his wife Barbara moved to Santa Rosa, California for 10 years, and later moved back to Florida. His passion was Bread of the Mighty Food Bank where he volunteered for years and was a member of the Board of Directors. He loved Gator sports, enjoyed doing stained glass, and was a proud Floridian. Family was important to Warren and most of all he adored his grandchildren. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Barbara Anne, children, Michael Graves (Jenni), Dan Graves (Deserae), and Anne Dale (Chuck); brother, Ken Graves; grandchildren, Austin Dale, Mallory Dale, Serena Meadows-Graves, Megan Graves, Lynslie Higgs. A celebration of Warren’s life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Williams-Thomas Westarea Chapel 823 N.W. 143 Street Newberry, FL. at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Tami Higdon as officiant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren’s memory to Bread of the Mighty Food Bank www.breadofthemighty.org A private burial will be held at Countryside Baptist Church Cemetery.
