Frank Albert Urban

January 14, 1952 - October 31, 2021

Gainesville – Frank A. Urban, 69, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2021. He was born on January 14, 1952, in Miami, FL to Frank P. Urban and Floretta M. Urban. He grew up in Miami, FL, and graduated from Southwest Miami Senior High School Class of 1970. Frank continued his studies at the University of Florida earning a bachelor’s degree and then went on to attend the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for his postgraduate studies in finance. He enjoyed a career as a financial advisor for the past 33 years serving his clients as an advisor and friend. He also served the community through his service as a past board member of the Ronald McDonald House, a past president of the Gainesville Country Club, a member of the Kiwanis and Exchange clubs, and the Quarterback Club. He attended Queen of Peace Catholic Community. Frank was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joys in life were being a doting grandfather to his 5 grandchildren, traveling with his family and friends, and being an avid Gator fan in all kinds of weather. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Floretta Urban, and his sister, Rosemarie Melvin. Surviving with warm memories are his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Urban; his daughters, Alisa Hanson (David) and Rachel Prater (Jacob); his grandchildren, Christian Hanson, Carter Hanson, Madison Prater, Zachary Prater, and Olivia Prater; and his sister, Shirley Stein. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 10:00 A. M., in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, with Fr. Anthony Hamaty, celebrant. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 in the church narthex, prior to the Mass.
