  • Spamalot the Musical

    The Buchholz High School Players present Monty Python's Spamalot, a musical comedy with live music provided the Buchholz Jazz Band! Winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spamalot is “lovingly ripped off” from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. When King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table receive a charge from God to find the Holy Grail, the quest takes the king and his misfit knights to strange places where they meet odd characters including the Knights Who Say Ni, killer rabbits and insulting Frenchmen to name just a few. With music and lyrics by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot is classic Monty Python that will have you rolling with laughter and singing along. Don’t miss Monty Python's Spamalot.     The Children's Table is holding a Birthday Building Fundraiser on the occasion of Mr. Bill Brown's birthday. The Children’s Table 352-486-6525 680 W Thrasher Dr Bronson, FL 32621 The Children’s Table was founded in 1996 in Bronson, Florida by William (Bill) and Verna Brown. The Browns were serving as foster parents at the time and learned from a caseworker of a mother struggling to feed her three children. The Browns shared vegetables from their garden and provided a generous contribution of food to sustain the family through this hard time. Out of this initial act of kindness, the Browns founded The Children’s Table to help meet the need of the hungry and food insecure in rural North Central Florida area. Hunger is a prevalent problem in local rural communities. The goal of The Children’s Table is to always feed one more family. The Children’s Table utilizes donated food that would otherwise be wasted to help prevent hunger. In the years since the organization was founded, millions of pounds of food have been distributed to those in need. The Children’s Table does not receive Federal, State, County or Municipal funds. The organization depends on voluntary contributions by the people who receive food, however, no one is turned away and receiving food is not dependent upon making a donation. Private donations as well as fundraisers help support the operation of The Children’s Table. The funds support the operation and travel costs associated with obtaining the donated food, storing, and sorting the items as well as traveling to the distribution locations within the community. Each week, 22 food distributions are held. Two distributions occur at The Children’s Table location in Bronson and 19 distributions are held in nine North Central Florida Counties. The organization also provides emergency food baskets to families in food crisis through partnerships with agencies and organizations within the community. Each year and month, the numbers served grow. The Children’s Table strives to meet the rising need in the rural communities. The organization depends upon a volunteer workforce. The Children’s Table is currently providing food for over 10,000 people each month. The Children’s Table would like to continue to expand their capacity to meet the growing needs of the community. For the growth, additional storage space is needed. When funds are available, the Children’s Table plans to add a 60 X 60 steel building at their location in Bronson to provide additional storage for dry goods. All craft supplies are donated by the Help Heal Vets organization as a means to provide veterans with therapeutic craft activities to assist them in taking their minds off the past while meeting other veterans.     VA Research Day: Bridging the Gap – May 19, 2017
    Research Day is free and open to the public at the Malcom Randall VAMC auditorium on May 19, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Research Day is part of a nationwide observance of National VA Research Week. The event at the MRVAMC will showcase VA research in progress and how VA research efforts are impacting the treatment and prevention of disease and disability. Featured research topics are: diabetes, traumatic brain injury and driving intervention for returning combat Veterans. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and includes special guest speaker Staff Sergeant Jerry Majetich, who was awarded the Purple Heart in 2005 by George W. Bush.
