Timothy Pickman, 65, of Archer, FL, died on March 23, 2015, in Gainesville, FL.
He was born in Boston, MA, to David and Elizabeth Pickman, the third of their six children. He grew up in Bedford, went to Belmont Hill School and the Sterling School, and graduated from Boston University with a BA in American history.
Tim married Patricia (Joan) Harris in 1974 in East Greenwich, RI. They built a home together on Pojac Point in North Kingstown, where they raised four children and lived until 2006, when they moved to Archer.
Tim was an all-state goalie in Vermont, an avid motorcyclist and motocross rider in California and Maine, and he drove a taxicab in Boston. Each summer for twenty-four years, Tim went on boys’ weekend, a bass fishing trip in Cuttyhunk, RI, with Stephen Harris, Will Keene, Casey Freeman, Bill Rappleye, and David Knott. Ten of those years he caught the biggest striper.
He began a career in entrepreneurial engineering at Plasfab and founded the companies ReelTech and Atlantech, where he worked with such clients as IBM, the Aerospace Industries Association, and Bausch & Lomb.
Tim was a loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather. In Archer, he took pleasure in his house and farm projects, which included building a horse barn, chicken coop, orchid greenhouse, and vegetable garden. He enjoyed golfing with his wife and children, and grilling lobsters and littleneck clams for his entire family at annual summer reunions. He made the very best linguini with clam sauce.
Tim died after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Pickman; his four children, Jessica Pickman of Charlotte, NC; Stephen (and Kate) Pickman of Honolulu, HI; Samuel (and Lauren) Pickman of Aptos, CA; and Cherry (and Kara) Pickman of Miami, FL; and by his five grandchildren Arizona, Lucas, Leif, Stephen, and Wes. He is also survived by five siblings, Susan Sargent of Boston; David Pickman of Bethlehem, NH; Stephanie Monahan of Milton, MA; Elizabeth Flanagan of Wellesley, MA; and Edward Pickman of Meppel, the Netherlands.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the South Ferry Church in Saunderstown, RI.

Growing up in RI our two families spent a lot of vacations, New Years and many other times together. My parents Joe and Jane Cerilli were BFF's! With Joan and Tim. I always thought of the pickmans as an extension of our family, I love them all. I have such wonderful memories of Tim:) I will miss him. When I think of Tim I think of his amazing smile. You will be sadly missed. You were one of the nicest people I've even known. Fair and always up front. Easy to talk to and slow to judge. May you rest in peace and say hi to Steve for me. God Bless. Linda Lynch

A wonderful man to work for who appreciated a good laugh along with hard work. I spent an enjoyable three years at PLASFAB working with Tim and wondered at his ingenuity and skills with computers and system designs. So sorry for your loss !!!

Tim always knew the right thing to say and exactly at the right moment in time. He led me to understand that as a woman in the work place I had just as much value as men. In my many comments on how my husband thought this or that...he always set me straight that I have a brain and advised me well not to waste it or ever feel fear to use my brain to go out in life and get exactly what I want or need to be simply happy. I... like many, that either worked for him or were simply friends with him feel honored to have even had the chance to meet someone that you could honestly say was a true friend. My Dad who has since past, instilled in me that; "Your lucky if you find one true friend in your whole life". No wonder he has such a great family that obviously loves him and always succeeded in business good or bad times, he is the most optimistic person I have ever had the pleasure to work for or meet period. My heart goes out to the ones closest to him for surely he will be missed greatly. Yet I DO believe... due to all the stories involving him he will be kept alive in happy and comedic conversations to the end of time.
